CUSTOM LENSES

Non-Prescription Custom Tinted Lenses

Non-Prescription Custom Tinted Lenses - These frames were found at an estate sale and had clear glass lenses in them at the time. Our client wanted them restored to use as sunglasses. Once the frames were restored we created a gradient brown sunglass lens to compliment the details of the frame and provide the visual comfort our client was looking for.

Non-Prescription and Prescription Lenses

We offer non-prescription lenses, such as sunglass or custom tinted lenses. You do not need a prescription for these types of lenses.

We also offer single vision lenses, used for seeing at one particular distance. We DO require a current prescription and your PD (pupillary distance) measurement.

For our mail-in clients: We MAY or MAY NOT be able to make bi-focal, tri-focal or progressive lenses, it is a case by case basis. If you are booking an in person appointment at Resurrection Eyewear, we have the ability to make new lenses of any type.

We need to assess your frames and your prescription before we can provide an accurate quote for new lenses.

Lens Materials

There are a variety of lens materials available. Your prescription and your frames will help guide which material is best for you. We also take into account what the glasses are used for in selecting the proper material for you.

CR-39 Plastic - This material is one of the most commonly used for lenses. It provides good clarity and is used for minimal to standard prescriptions. We only recommend this material when a full frame is being used, not a semi-rimless or rimless pair. If you have a semi-rimless or rimless pair we recommend Trivex or Polycarbonate.

Trivex or Polycarbonate are considered safety materials. We recommend them for children and for any semi-rimless or rimless eyewear. These are used to achieve a thinner, lighter weight lens but it is not recommended for higher prescriptions.

High Index (1.60, 1.67, 1.74) materials are used for clients with a higher prescription who desire the thinnest, lightest weight lens. We determine which level of high index to use based on your prescription and personal preference.

Glass Lenses are less common, though still an option, providing great visual clarity and long term durability. For the right frame and wearer they are still in the game. They can be heavy in a minimal or standard prescription so we do not recommend them for higher prescriptions.

Single Vision Lenses made with a High Index 1.67 and treated with an Anti-Glare Coating

(pictured above) Single Vision Lenses made with a High Index 1.67 and treated with an Anti-Glare Coating - The prescription going into these restored vintage frames required a high index lens and quality anti-glare coating to minimize the thickness and reduce unwanted artificial light glare.

Lens Treatments

Anti-Reflective (AR) Coatings are the most commonly applied treatments on lenses. The coatings are used to reduce artificial light glare in our everyday surroundings. There are a few different types of anti-glare coatings available and we will work with you to determine the right fit for your needs.

Transitions lenses change with the natural lighting around you. This enables you to move from indoor to outdoor without having to change your glasses or worry about sun brightness. They are truly adaptive, clear indoors and dark outdoors. They traditionally come in gray, brown and graphite green. They have added a few more unique options as of recently; emerald, sapphire, amethyst and amber. Check out their website for more information, Transitions.

Custom Tinting provides endless color variations for your custom lenses. Lenses can be tinted one color or multiple color blends. This service is extremely unique, giving custom frames a one of a kind quality whether you go classic or bold. Combine with transitions for an even more stunning look!

Polarized Lenses are for sunglasses only. It reduces 99.9% of surface glare caused by the sun. It is a great option for driving as well as water and snow sports. Polarization is not for all situations, for example if you are dealing with modern digital displays, such as pilots, we do not recommend this type of lens treatment.

Mirrored Lenses really up the wow factor. Mirrors reflect light away from the eyes so combined with a custom tint or polarization you are really protecting your peepers from the sun. Mirror treatments can be softer than some of the other coatings and due to that they can scratch easier, so be aware that in order to keep them looking great for a longtime you will want to handle them with care.
